By about 10AM we made it to our hotel (Hotel Bel Ami shown in the background) and attempted to check in. We quickly realized if you respond to "Bonjour!" with "Bonjour!" the other party assumes you can speak French, which is clearly not the case. Going forward we decided that our greeting would be "Bonjour! How are you?" so as to accurately flag that we are attempting the French language but are still your typical (ignorant) Americans.
Since our room was not ready right away, the hotel was gracious enough to allow us to freshen up in the "Relaxation Room" (shower/powder room around the corner - not displayed in this picture) and then be on our way to discover Paris.
